American Demographics: This site provides a directory of marketing experts. Articles and search for the American Demographics magazine. http://www.demographics.com  

Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System: This site is relatively weak. It has short summary discussions of Fed regulations, information on enforcement actions, and supervisory letters. Information on interstate banking is useful. It does, however, have excellent economic and financial data. http://www.bog.frb.fed.us/   


Code of Federal Regulations (CFR): This U.S. Federal reference provides a searchable database of Federal regulations. The CFR is a codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the Executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government. http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/cfr-table-search.html  


Compliance Assistance Program (Office of Small Business Program of the U.S. Department of Labor): This site provides nearly 100 manuals, fact sheets, compliance guides, and procedures to assist small business in following these laws. http://www.dol.gov/cgi-bin/consolid.pl?regs+compliance  


Conference of State Bank Supervisors: This site has some very useful features for the executive trying to keep up with financial laws and regulations at both the federal and state levels. It has an irregular feature called CSBS Examiner which provides short synopses of current regulatory and legal activities and another irregular feature called Legislative Updates, which provides more in-depth discussions of pending legislation at the federal level. The site includes a useful summary of state interstate laws and a list of state supervisors. http://www.csbsdal.org/    


Department of Labor (DOL): This site has considerable information on employee and pension issues. http://www.dol.gov

Department of Labor (U.S.) Compliance Information: This site provides useful factual information on many federal labor laws and explains how to comply with them. Coverage includes such topics as minimum wage, child labor, employment of aliens, employee benefits, whistle-blower laws, family medical leave, plant closings, lie detectors, and wage garnishment. http://dol.gov/cgi-bin/consolid.pl?regs+compliance    


Equal Employment Opportunity Commission: This is the site of the federal administrative agency responsible for interpreting and enforcing the sexual harassment law. Facts about sexual harassment are found at. http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/fs-sex.html

Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993: This section of the DOL site provides information on who is covered, provisions and requirements, and penalties. http://www.dol.gov/dol/asp/public/programs/handbook/fmla.htm   


Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation: This is one of the best agency sites around. It has every regulatory issue covered including examination manuals. It has the best information on financial performance of banks and thrifts, and many excellent regulatory files that can be downloaded. http://www.fdic.gov/   


Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council: This organization of the major depository regulatory agencies coordinates examination and supervision activities. The site has information on CRA filings, who’s required to create a CRA report, and year 2000 CRA compliance. http://www.ffiec.gov  

Find extensive information on the community reinvestment act including an extensive question and answer section on all facets of CRA.


Government on the Net: The State and Local Government on the Net pages offer a frequently updated directory of links to government sponsored and controlled resources on the Internet. http://www.piperinfo.com/


Miscellaneous DOL Administrative Oversight: This page will get you to information on Plant Closings and Layoffs, Veteran’s Reemployment, and Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) information. http://www.dol.gov/dol/asp/public/programs/handbook/contents.htm    


Money-Rates.com : Compare competitor products both nationally and internationally.  Comparative indices are provided as well as an e-mail list that informs of rate specials. http://www.money-rates.com/    


National Credit Union Administration: This is a very extensive site as long as you can download Acrobat pdf files. In the regulatory area it has the Federal Credit Union Act, bylaws, rules and regulations, a two-volume examination manual, prohibition orders, accounting manuals and letters, and regulatory alerts. You can get just about everything they publish. The site is well organized as well. http://www.ncua.gov

Office of Thrift Supervision: This site provides information on laws, regulations, policies, final and interim rules, legal opinions, many Acrobat PDF downloadable file resources on electronic banking, and guidance notices. There is a good section on safety and soundness guidelines. http://www.access.gpo.gov/ots/index.html    


U.S. Census Bureau (U.S. Department of Commerce): This site is overwhelming. There is more economic, demographic, and social data and information then anyone can absorb. Try the "Subjects A-Z" list to narrow your topic of interest. http://www.census.gov/
